The climograph below shows average monthly temperatures and rainfall in the city of Kolkata. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The figure depicts the trend of temperature and precipitation in Kolkata for each month in a year. At a glance, the rainfall reaches the highest in the second semester, except November and December, whilst the second quarter is the hottest. To begin, in January, total precipitation stands at less than 25 mm. This gradually levels up until April reaching 50 mm. However, in May the amount of precipitation doubles to 100 mm. Unexpectedly, this number of rainfall rockets drastically in the following month by 150 mm and continues to surge reaching its peak at almost 350 mm. Subsequently, it dips step by step for the next three months before it suddenly plunged to 150 mm. Finally, in November and December, the precipitation remains relatively stable at approximately 2 mm and it is considered as the lowest rainfall during a year. On the other side, the temperature experiences an oscillation. It starts at 20 degrees Celcius in January, then it climbs up until May as the hottest month in a year at more than 30 degrees Celcius. Nevertheless, the number declines for the rest of the months until it reaches the same degree as it was in January.
