Taking a year off between finishing school and starting a university is waste of student’s time. To what extend do you agree or disagree?

Taking a year off between finishing school and starting a university is waste of student’s time. r0mn
In a contemporary life it is almost unattainable to find a job with good prospects without having university study. While, it is thought that students should take a time-off after graduating from the school, I agree with those who regard it as a waste of time. One positive aspect of taking a year after finishing school is that students might have enough time to think which major is more appropriate to their personality. During this gap applicants can gain data about types of high education, their faculties and what is more, an available scholarship or admission fees. As a result, by the time they apply for university they would have enough options suitable for their wishes to choose from. On the other hand, a vast majority of students often spend this time working in different sectors to find out their interests to decide on a field of study. However, it turns out once they have found a career which fits their life, they are likely to refuse to continue their study in higher education for a degree. Consequently, this can limit their opportunities to reach on higher positions at their job in the future. Knowledge is another area of concern which can be partly forgotten within a year. Being tired of study students might want to have relaxation travelling abroad, socializing or just starting acquiring new skills. Although, I concede that this type of relaxation is beneficial to some extent, it could also cause students to forget what they learned in school years if their time-off lasts too long. As a consequence, even academically successful students might fail entry exam if they do not take time for revision also. In conclusion, a gap year after school can impact not only students’ career prospect but also their skills gained at school. Therefore, although I acknowledge that time-off would provide them with opportunity to understand their wishes in terms of field of career, I disagree that it should take a year.
