Some people support the opinion that the authorities should be responsible for the expenses which are needed to continue universities. By doing this, if they want to choose a university, the cost of its education will be free. In my opinion, I cannot accept that it does not cost anything for the entrance and fees of university.
Firstly, if all of the expenses are fully covered by the government, no effort to standardize the requirement for the entrance of a university will be made by the students. In addition, it will be particularly unfair to the outstanding students who are trying to get the scholarship provided by its own university or the authorities compared to the normal students. There are a lot of opportunities to cover the expenses of courses, such as part time jobs and partially or fully awards provided by its own university.
Another fact is that the authorities have their own sectors to balance various kinds of fields. The budget will show a deficit and make the country difficult if almost half of the fundings is supplied to only the education sector. Moreover, the branding of a country will be higher if the government gives a chance free of charge to a few people. For instance, a fully funded scholarship, which is provided by Japanese government, has little chance to be awarded and is popular all over the world.
In conclusion, even though some people wish to cost nothing for a university due to the lack of money supplied or higher tuition and accommodation fees, it will create a big challenge for both the authorities and country and have detrimental effects for the reputation of its country. Owing to these facts, it is better not to provide costs for running universities.
