I do not believe loyalty is the most important quality one should look for when it comes choosing a friend. Instead I would prefer honesty as an important attribute while choosing a friend. A loyal friend will never stand against you even if you're wrong. He or she will never try to rectify your mistakes. And because of this you'll keep making same mistakes which can be hazardous for you in future. Whereas in an honest friend's company you'll be assured of doing right things in every aspect of your life. I need to be able to trust my friend and I need to believe that they're going to be honest with me. I want my friend to challenge me and make me better, and if they are too worried about appearing disloyal to me, then I don't think that friendship is healthy. If my friend blindly support me then I don't think that support would be meaningful.
