I strive to improve my leadership skills everyday. I am an active alumni of AFS India and to begin with, I was one of the virtual trainers in a virtual project which was initiated by AFS India in 2020. This project focused on conducting online Pre-departure Orientations for the students selected for the KLYES scholarship. One session per month was conducted for 10 months out of which I was a trainer in 5 of those sessions. Similarities and differences between Indian and American culture, highschool, program guidelines, do's and don't's etc were some of the subjects that I oriented the students on. Apart from this, I am also in the sending department of my local AFS chapter. Our work is to assist the National Office of AFS with the applications, parent orientations, panel interviews and home visits. In addition, I am a member of The HEART Alumni committee which is supported by the US Consulate. The aim of The HEART is to build a robust community for the alumnus of the US Consulate. We planned around 8 community service events and I successully contributed to the first two events. Currently, I am assisting in evaluating applications of Asia Kakehashi Program which is a 10 months high school exchange program to Japan. Furthermore, I believe that my engagement in such activities has developed my networking skills, time management, problem-solving skills and decision making skills quite alot. Ultimately contributing to the development of my leadership skills.
