Due to the low cost of flights, many people are choosing to holiday abroad rather than have holidays in their own country. What are the advantages and disadvantages to this. v. 1
Over a last decade, low cost airlines have made travelling easy and affordable. As a result, more and more people are opting for an international vacation as opposed to a local tourism. There are a number of merits and demerits related to this new development. The essay will discuss both sides with reasons and relevant examples. One of the advantages of holidaying abroad is that it makes people open-minded. In other words, travelling to other countries give an opportunity to explore new places and meet new people who are of a different culture and language. Thus, such associations help in developing respect and sensitivity towards others. Besides, it promotes adaptability. This means that people learn to adjust with odds and still stay happy. For example, Indian visitors on international trips to western countries like France or Canada, find it difficult to eat food because the food is served cold and has no spice. Still, every year, more and more Indians are happily visiting these countries for vacations because they are well known for their easy-going and flexible attitude. On the other hand, travelling to other nations on holidays can impact the economic growth of the country in terms of local tourism. Due to this, local currency flows to other nations and impacts a number of shopkeepers and travel agents who cater local tourists only. Moreover, international tourists include only best places and hot spots in their itinerary. It would lead to close down of other places which are not so popular among foreign travellers. In conclusion, although foreign vacations widen people's thinking and improve their flexibility, it can lead to financial slowdown of local tourism and extinction of various old monuments. Therefore, the governments should promote local tourism by providing world-class accommodation and travel facilities for local people. This would, indeed boost local tourism and help to stabilise the travel industry,
