15. Unlimited car use has brought us a lot of problems. What are these problems? And should we discourage people to use cars? Bgmep
The car industry has come such a long way since the first four-wheel vehicle was invented and taken into practice by Karl Benz in 1886, becoming an indispensable form of transportation these days. Besides the enormous benefits, unlimited car use has caused people several matters, which need to be grappled with immediately by the authorities and also the citizens. First of all, overuse of cars by inhabitants have wrought a plethora of problems regarding road safety and the environment. Due to its extreme convenience and flexibility of commute within long distances, the automobile is always in hot demand among the public. Millions of new cars are sold worldwide each year, and the figure still hasn’t shown a sign of slowing down in the foreseeable future. However, the fact that the increase in car sales hasn’t matched up with the development of road construction has resulted in a sharp rise in accidents relating to road travel. A survey conducted by the UN has concluded that traffic collisions are the major contributor to the world’s annual fatalities, causing more deaths than the most dangerous diseases of all time such as cancer and HIV. Moreover, too many cars participating in the area’s traffic can lead to serious pollution, especially air and noise. Motors are one of the vehicles producing the largest amount of CO2, which means unlimited use of this means of transport can critically worsen the already worse environmental situation of the region. As a consequence, steps must be taken to discourage citizens from abusing cars. First of all, the governments should introduce and draw the public’s attention to more convenient and eco-friendly forms of transportation than driving this four-wheeled, such as riding bicycles or even walking. In Sweden and many other European countries, for instance, the authorities have established special lanes for bicycles and offer the riders money or daily essentials for free with a view to preventing people from too relying on the automobile. Hence, the public itself ought to be fully aware of both sides of cars and restrict their car use as a result. In conclusion, the invention of cars has significantly enhanced our living standards, but it has also posed a threat to the world’s road safety as well as the environment at the same time. Therefore, actions need to be done to halt the unlimited car use and to better the worsening situation happening at the time being. 15. Unlimited car use has brought us a lot of problems.
