This graph shows recycling rate for four materials from 1982-2010. We can evaluate the final answer and rate of recycling of materials from this graph. It shows that from 1982-2010, there was increase in recycling rate of paper and cardboard upto 80% but the rate decreases with each passing year till 2008. Glass containers on the other hand faces decrease in recycling rate from 50% to 40% from 1980-88. But the rate of recycling increases exponentially onwards till 2008 upto 60%. This graph also shows that there was no real trend for recycling of the aluminium cans due to less awareness in 1980s but the recycling rate for aluminium cans increases shockingly from 1990-2008. The percentage for recycling rate alleviated from 0%-45% which is a major change. We can see no major tradition for the recycling of plastics from 1980-2010. Plastic is causing significant damages to the environment and oceans. This maybe due to the lack of recycling of plastics. If we compare recycling rate of plastics with other materials, we can know that all other materials are being recycled except paper and cardboard. The rate of recycling of paper and cardboard is decreasing day by day which is an alarming situation.
