This is my summary for class via Zoom on Thursday 9th 2021. The class has 3 sections. At the beginning, there is a discussion with the questions on page 164 Unit 7. The teacher takes an overlook about the definition of being successful. There are some ideas such as physical fitness, getting advancement, getting more money and so on. The next question is “how can learning a new skill lead to success”. The first idea is attitude. When one person wants to learn something new, he or she wants to do more exercise, more practice and asks more questions. The second is work experience. This person should not just stand and watch, he or she must be do by self. The third is team work because a lot of skills need many people. These ideas are supported by teacher who gives more examples. it seems the importance of classmate. These things can help to learn, to be successful. Then, the lesson moves to next section which is note taking skill on page 167. The students have to listen the audio and to complete the chart. After 2 times listening, students have 5 minutes to complete the chart. There are 3 companies in the chart, students have to listen for the third time one by one and complete with the correction of the teacher. As the first company “Ben and Jerry’s”, the question is “why ‘no chemicals’ idea does not be counted a success of the company”. For customers, ‘no chemicals” is good for them but is not a success of a company. Student think a success that means have advantages. There is a new word “bias” which means an opinion that affects how you understand or explain something. For the question, teacher give examples: having a baby, having a well-paid job, etc. So, success means result that company receive. As the 2 next companies, students continue give answers and teacher gives the correction. The final section is discussing in group in 15 minutes. Students take notes during the discussion and do ODF practice.
