The chart gives data on immigration, emigration and net migration in UK over a nine - year period from 1999 to 2008. Overall, the figure for people who immigrated were much more than that emigrated. Net migration peaked at nearly 250, 000 in 2004 and nearly 220, 000 in 2007. These were 2 years with the most net migration. In 1999, more than 450, 000 people immigrated, and by 2003, the number had risen to more than 500, 000.
