The line graph compares three different European countries in terms of the rates of unemployment from 1991 to 2005. Overall, the number of people without jobs in Spain declined steadily despite a sharp increase from 1991 to 1993. However, the percentage of unemployed people in Italy experienced mild variations while the same figure for Germany increased significantly by the end of the given period. The percentage of unemployment in Spain went up sharply from over 12% in 1991 to 18% in 1993. After keeping the same level for 2 years between 1993 and 1995, the figure experienced a significant decrease falling to a low of about 8% in 2005. Having risen gradually between 1991 and 1999, the rate of unemployment in Italy showed almost the same figure in 2005 as it was in 1991, at about 8%. On the other hand, the proportion of unemployed people in Germany rose considerably to its high of 11% in 2005, after experiencing some mild fluctuations.
