This diagram illustrates how an Australian town collects rainwater for the purpose of drinking. The rainwater is readily available for consumption once it has been passed through the cycle of filtration and water treatment. Whenever the rain falls on the slanted roof of the house it slides into the drain which in turn in connected to all the houses in a locality. The water from the drain is then passed into a water filter which gradually falls and sinks into the storage container. The water is settled in the said container until it is passed for the water treatment, which heavily uses chemicals for the treatment process.
