The images we see below illustrate the changes that have occurred in Westley since the year 1815. The first map shows Westley in 1815 and the second map shows Westley today. Overall, there have been several changes, not surprisingly as over 200 years have passed. The most noticeable changes include the removal of wood and field areas, the substitution of buildings for more contemporary businesses and the addition of a railway station. In 1815 Westley had considerable amounts of fields which today have been removed to make way for a railway and railway station. Furthermore, the woods have also been removed to make way for a housing estate. Apart from these changes made in the environment, buildings have also been substituted for more contemporary companies. The Coach Inn and church have been removed and a sports centre, museum and shopping centre built in it´s place. In conclusion, the changes made in the town of Westley have principally included reducing the areas with natural environment, substituting old buildings with newer and more contemporary businesses and the introduction of a more technological means of transport, that being, the railway.
