The two given maps illustrate the changes that took place in Happy Valley Shopping Centre over two decades, from 1982 to 2012. Overall, the shopping center witnessed dramatic changes over a period of twenty years with the biggest change being the complete removal of the lake and the coffee shop. In 1982, visitors had to go along the road and through doors which led into the center. However, this road was demolished to make room for the parking lot in 2012. Moreover, there is a construction of the furniture retail at the top left-hand corner of the layout, forcing the former lake to be removed. Looking at the remaining infrastructure, we can see that in 2012, there is a new erection of a series of themed restaurants, forcing the sector at the right-hand side, including three different stores, to be relocated. To be specific, sports stores, electronics stores were moved to the top and the food store to the bottom right-hand corner. At the same time, the coffee shop situated at the top left-hand corner was knocked down to make way for other sectors in the building.
