The given table illustrates the proportions of money paid for these various categories by people in the UK in 1998. Overall, it is noticeable that there was a significant difference in the expenditures on food, electronic equipment, music, and videos. One more striking feature is that children spent most of their money on music while food was the most invested category for adults and this trend was totally reserved for women. As is shown, women paid for Food accounting for the largest of their expenses, at 39% and this data was about 4 times as high as boys, compared to 11% of the same figures of children and girls. Electronic equipment came in second place with this data of children making up 35%, which was 7% higher than that of boys. Similarly, a majority of the money was paid for music by children, boys, and girls, taking up 41%, 36%, and 38% respectively as opposed to 2% of the figure for women. In terms of videos, boys invested more money than girls, with the former consisting of 20% and the latter representing 16% and there was a similarity in the expenditure spent by Adults and Men, at 2%.
