Noticeably, Turkey showed the largest figures in two out of the three categories. Consumer spending on food, drinks and tobacco was considerably higher in Turkey and Ireland, at 31. 14% and 28. 91% respectively. The level of expenditure in Sweden was 15. 77%, slightly lower than those of Italy and Spain but only half the figure for Turkey. With respect to clothing and footwear, Italy had the largest proportion of expenditure, at 9. 00%, whereas the figures for other countries were slightly lower, ranging from 5. 40% to 6. 63%. Strikingly, Sweden showed the smallest figures in both food/drinks/tobacco and clothing/footwear category. Compared to other items, leisure and education had the lowest spending percentages. In detail, while Turkey, again, had the largest proportion, at 4. 35%, Spain had the smallest, at 1. 98%, also the lowest figure in the table.
