The figure for Japan was considerably higher, at 15760. The life expectancies at birth of the two countries were almost the same, at 76 years and 78 years for Canada and Japan respectively. In terms of daily calorie supply per person, the figure for Canada was higher than that of Japan, at 3326 compared to 2846. Finally, the adult literacy rates in both countries were the same at 99%. By contrast, all the data on Peru and Zaire were much lower than that on Canada and Japan. In terms of annual income per person, the figures for Peru and Zaire were 160 and 130 US dollars respectively, only about 1/100 of the figure for Japan.
