The table above illustrates information about traveller arrivals and departures in the London airports including six main airports serving in 2012. The most crowded airport in London was Heathrow with 70 million visitors because of its close distance from the center of London. Due to its crowded nature, Heathrow airport also had the highest percentage of passengers even though London City had the shortest distance to central London with 11 km, there were 3 million passengers, which was 35 percent less than Heathrow. However, Southend Airport had an increase of 135 %, which meant it had the biggest change from 2011 and was the highest among all airports in the table. In London City, the number of passengers was lower than Gatwick, although London is not as far as Gatwick.
