The table illustrates the proportions of children going to several types of schools between 2000 and 2009. It is evident that the students attending the community schools increased to the highest point over the period, the others saw a corresponding decline. In 2000, the number of learners, who went to the voluntary - controlled schools reduced dramatically from over a half to a fifth. Similarly, the children appearing in grammar schools just under one quarter fell by half in the same period. As for the specialist schools, the amount of attendants fell slightly by 2% from over a tenth to one in tenth in the last 9 years. In spite of the fact that three types of schools slumped, the opposite was true in the case of the community schools. In 2000, only 2%, which was almost the smallest number, then grew significantly to over half of all pupils during the following nine years.
