All the trends of modern technology: CD player, Home computer, Internet access, and Mobile phone are upward. There were gradual rises in the trends of CD player (from 60% in 1996/97 to around 80% in 2002/03) and Home computer (from around 30% in 1996/97 to about 50% in 2002/03). As regards Internet and Mobile phone, however, there were some sudden increases. Since the introduction of Internet around 1998 in the UK, there had been a sudden increase in the percentage until 2001, from 10% to 30%, and then, it went up slightly but constantly (from 30% in 2001/01 to above 40% in 2002/03). Likewise, the trend of Mobile phone rose steadily first. After that, there were two sudden increases from 1998/99 to 2002/03.
It is noticeable that the number of people who introduced Home computer and Mobile phone in their daily lives had risen suddenly for a short span.
