The maps describe the developments that occurred in Lakeside town between 2000 and 2009.
Overall, Lakeside significantly transformed from a mostly residential area with large amounts of forest into one that underwent forest reduction and focused on facilities for studying, working, shopping as well as relaxing.
In 2000, Frenton was a small town, which was bisected into two parts by a river flowing from the southwest to the northeast of the map. On the west sidethere is a residential area next to the river and another in the upper left corner of the map, between them are the arts center and school. Next to the residential area is a derelict warehouse as well as an old town. The woodland is on the left side of the map, with a lake in the middle, an industry complex between the woodland and the river, and another residential area at the bottom.
After 9 years in 2009, the residential area and the arts centre nearby were destroyed and replaced by a shopping centre and the new multi-screen cinema. In addition, a small car park was erected on the original site of the derelict warehouses and the old town next to this warehouses was also knocked down to make room for a triangular-shaped area for offices and a new university. Half of the woodland area was cut down and the residential area of Lakeside was also demolished to make way for an expansion of the industrial complex, which increased in land area by about a factor of five. The size of the lake at the beginning of the river was also decreased substantially. It is now a small pond
