The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development.

The given maps illustrate the changes which are going to be made in Islip town by comparing its current and planned layouts. Overall, there are some facilities which are expected to remain unchanged such as school, part of residential areas and shops but city is going to undertake enormous changes. Hence, there will have been remarkable alterations in roads and facilities especially by knocking down the shopping building blocks in the north of the existing main road and constructing dual carriageway. Regarding facilities, it is anticipated to reduce the north shopping center size and make room for a bus station along with car park and a new residential area near the car park. The current park is going to shrink but will not disappear. Furthermore, a new housing area is going to be added on the west side of the park. As far as road and transportation is concerned, the main road will change its application and become for pedestrians only. Besides, it is expected to build two curve roads (dual carriageway) surrounding the city on both north and south side which the southern road is going to pass by the school as well as housing area.
