The line graph illustrates the rate of birth in two countries, namely China and the USA in the period from 1920 to 2000. Overall, there was a gradual decrease in the birth rates of both nations over the period of 80 years(over a period of 80 years from 1920). In addition, the birth rate of the USA was higher than that of China in most years. As regards the USA, the birth rate stood at above 10% in the first year before fluctuating steadily around this level in the next 20 years and it declined sharply to below 5% in 1945. After that, The figure for the USA increased significantly to the highest point at exactly 15% in the 1950s, followed by a considerable drop was seen in the remainder of the period and finished at about 7% in the final years. In terms of China, a substantial fall was seen in the percentage of births by 5% in the period 1920-1940 and it then remained unchanged this level in the next 5 years before growing quickly to 20% in 1950. The period 1955–2000 witnessed a steep downward trend by approximately 17%.
