Additionally, the figure for visitors staying on cruise ships was lower than those staying on island for the first 5 years. In 2010, the total number of tourists traveling to Caribbean Island was 1 million, with nearly 0, 75 million of them staying on island, while the rest chose to stay on cruise ships. Over the next 2 year, there was a small drop in the number of visitors staying on cruise ship to hit the lowest point of roughly 0. 25 million, while the figure for those stayed on island was much higher, at 1. 25 million. In 2017, the Caribbean Island witnessed a sharp rise to 3. 5 million in the total number of visitors.
