The line graph illustrates changes in the number of cars that each household possesses in Britain from 1971 to 2007. Overall, it is clear that the percentage of households had one car and two or more cars increased, while that figure for no-car households declined sharply. Also, the percentage of no-car families witnessed the different changes compared to the others. Standing at about 53% in 1990, the percentage of no-car families was the highest figure, while the opposite was true for families who owned two or more cars with only 12% in the same year. The proportion of no-car families dropped substantially by 23% from 53% to 30% in 2020. Meanwhile, the figure for families who had two or more cars witnessed a fluctuation by 2% from 1990 to 2005 before went up sharply to about 28% in 2015 and remained unchanged to 2020. The percentage of one-car households reached the peak at 56% in 2005 and experienced the fluctuation throughout the period shown. From 2020 to 2030, the percentage of no-car households is expected to decrease at about 15%, while that figure of one, two or more cars are expected to increase considerably over 40%.
