The line graph presents information on the total number of international students who took part in the courses of Sheffield University between 2005 and 2009. Students are grouped into three different nationalities.
Firstly, Greek students represented the highest share of international enrolments relative to the Iranian and Turkish students, with a total of 180 in 2005. Iran and Turkey recorded 40 and 20 respectively. The number of Greek students then starts decreasing moderately until 2006, where the rate of fall increases significantly until 2007, recording a decrease of 44 students in one year. The downward trend gets flatter after 2007 finishing in 2009 at 41 students, which may be sign for further decrease in number of enrollments.
On the other hand, Iran and Turkey recorded a general trend of growth in enrollments at the university surveyed. Enrollments from Turkey seem to increase at a higher rate until 2008, when enrollments from Iran spike dramatically starting below Turkey at 85 students and reaching 160 in 2009.
Overall, the trends recorded completely inverse the positions of each one of the three countries taken into account, with Iran starting at last place and ending in first place, whilst Greece sees a significant fall in enrollments placing in last position in 2009.
