We can also see that staying on ships became increasingly popular compared to living on the island. In 2010, there was a total of one million people visited that island. The number of visitors who chose to stay on the land account for three-quarters of that figure, while only 0. 25 million tourists decided to live on boats. Over the five following years, the total figure increased over 2. 5 times, to nearly 2. 75 million. Ships saw an increase in the amount of access from 0. 25 to 1. 25 million, likewise, the number of guests living on the island doubled. From 2015 to 2016, the total number of visitors to the Caribbean stayed unchanged. In the middle of the year 2015, staying on cruises became the more popular in two options. By 2017, the number of tourists who chose two types of accommodation had climbed to 2 and 1. 5 million respectively. The overall figure had increased dramatically to 3. 5 million.
