The line chart compares the average of criminals in burglary, car theft and robbery in Newport city between 2003 and 2012. Overall, it is clear that the number of people who committed an offence in car theft and robbery decreased slightly over a period of 9 years. By contract, a considerable rise can be seen in the average crime of car theft, with figures eventually surpassing those for burglary from 2006 to 2007. In 2003, under 750 criminals in robbery in the inner city, while lawbreakers in the car theft and burglary were approximately 2800 and 3400 respectively. In the year 2004, the number of burglary witnessed a significant increase, reached the highest point at over 3700 criminals during the given period and after falling steadily. The number of people engaged in robbery declined to 500 between 2006 and 2008, however, at which point the car theft grew marginally. A dramatic increase in both three various areas of crime was seen from 2008 to 2011, with the rate of burglary was third times higher than the rate of robbery, to nearly 1500 offences. Finally, in 2012, while people committed crimes in car theft and robbery rose once again, the burglary experienced the opposite.
