The graph provides information on the amount of enrolled students in Australian universities from 2001 to 2010. Students are divided into local or overseas students. Overall, the amount of local students is significantly higher than the ones coming from overseas. While it is true that most students are loca, it seems that over time, Australian universities have gained popularity, as the amount of overseas students has doubled since the beginning of the ten year period. The amount of local students commencing their studied in Australia slightly fluctuated over time, and is currently higher than in 2001. As for the total number of local students in Australian universities, in 2001 there were 400. 000 and in 2010 there were over 600. 000 which represents a notable increase. This growth trend stabilized in 2007, as for the last 3 year the amount of local students has been the same. As for the overseas students, both the total and commencing students representative lines have increased. The number of new starters have significantly increased over time, reaching its top in 2010 with more than 40. 000 new enrollments from overseas. The rise in the total amount of students is even higher and remarkable, as in 2010 the total amount of students coming from abroad has doubled from 2001, with a total of 80. 000.
