The line graph illustrates the four distinct modes of transportation used in Metropolis: motorbike, bus, light rail, and private car between 1985 and 2010. Overall, there were upward trends in the use of public transport, whereas private car usage saw a slight fall over the period surveyed. Although the private car was the most popular transport usage in 1985, the light rail was more preferred than the others in 2010. As regards usage of the motorbike which started at over three million trips, then there was a gradual fluctuation over the first 15 years. This figure rose minimally to below four million trips in the next 10 years. A similar term could be seen in the bus usage, it oscillated around five million trips from 1985 to 1995, and this figure tended to climb spectacularly to above seven in 2010. The light rail usage experienced a dramatic rocket by three million trips, between 1985 and 2000 before hitting its highest point over eight million trips in 2010. That meant it had the highest usage of the four modes of transport throughout the period. In contrast, using private cars began at more than six million trips, there was stability around six million trips from 1985 to 2000. Then this figure dropped marginally to six million trips and became the third most popular transportation used.
