The chart shows various modes of transport within New Zealand by international tourists in 2000Overall, while tourists from Japan and Korea preferred coach tours and domestic air travel, Westerners used rental cars, private cars, and ferries. The majority of Korean visitors chose coach tours to travel to New Zealand(75%) followed closely by the Japanese (65%). Meanwhile, this type of transport was not used much by Australia, UK, and Germany with 10%, 10%, and 25% respectively. Domestic air travel was the most of transport among Japanese tourists, accounting for 67%. However, the percentages of travelers coming from the remaining countries were much lower ranging from 20% to 29%. German and UK tourists showed the same choice in rental and private cars mode with 30% and 40%. By contrast, the reverse was true for travelers from Japan and Korea (under 10%). Ferry was the transport which very popular in UK with nearly 30% but the percentages of visitors coming from the remaining countries were much lower ranging from 5% to 15%.
