The given line graph provides information on the number of commodities transported by four different shipment methods in UK from 1974 to 2002. The numbers are measured in million tonnes(Mt). Overall, it is evident that while road was the most preferred methods during this time frame, pipeline was the least popular modes of transport. Also the numbers of goods for all modes of shipments except for the rail modes of transport had witnessed a rise by 2002. Beginning at approximately 70 million tonnes in 1974, road was the first rank in the modes of transport. The numbers of good carried by this method continued rising, finished just under 100 million tonnes in 2002. In contrast, Pipeline was the least favoured methods, however this section also had experienced a growth reaching from near 5 Mt to just a little more than 20 Mt which was one fifth of the amount for road. With regards to sea (water ) and rail modes of shipments, both started at the near 40 mt. nevertheless, Until the end of period they showed a different patterns. While the number of goods transported by rail experience an erratic pattern, the amount of commodities transported by water had increased by 20 Mt, ending at roughly 62 Mt. The figure for rail modes of transport also remaind constant. At the end it is noteworthy to mention in 1978, the water modes of transport overtook the rail modes, and it became the second rank in the list.
