The bar graph compares percentage (%) of houses in purchased and leased stay in England and Wales from 1918 through 2011. The highest percentage of households in owned properties was in 2001, at 69%. While houselholds in rented accommodation was at peak in 1918, at more than 75%. On the contrast, the lowest percentage of households in owned accommodation and in rented accommodation was in 1918 and 2001, with 25% and 30%, respectively. However, the percentage of both households were equal in 1971. From 1918 to 2001, the percentage of households in rented accommodation declined gradually from above 75% to 30%, on the other hand, it increased in households in owned accommodation from slightly more than 20% to little less than 70%. In 2011, the percentage of rented accommodation started rising by 35%. With 35% in 2011, the percentage of owned accommodation fall down. Overall, the higher the percentage of owned house property, the lower the percentage of rented house property.
