The graph shows manufacturing of cars by four companies in the US. D2e87
The line graph compares the time taken by four companies, namely General Motors, Ford, Toyota and Honda to manufacture cars in the US from 1998 to 2005.
Overall, the average time taken by all companies, despite aa number of fluctuations, decreased with the passage of time.
In 1998, General Motors took 32 hours for the production of a car; meanwhile, the time consumed by Ford was 28 hours. Surprisingly, in 2001, this trend almost reversed as General Motors took 27 hours for manufacturing a car, whereas time for Ford car increased to 31 hours. Interestingly, up to 2005, the average time for manufacturing of General Motors and Ford declined sharply to 22 and 21 hours respectively.
Probing further, both Toyota and Honda took 22 hours per vehicle in 1998, experiencing sharp fluctuations, especially in the years of 1999 and 2000. It was in the 2002, when they again took equal time of 24 hours for manufacturing a car, before reaching a much lower production time of 20 hours in 2005
