There was a time, where the only way to contact a person was to use a public telephone. Gone are the days where we the telephone would eat a dollar every minute we spoke. Nowadays, every kid too has a smartphone which they use to gossip for hours with their friends. Due to the cheap prices of personal phones and the amount of convenience they offer, most of the people prefer to use cellphones rather than residential phone services. According to a source by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the consumer expenditure survey clearly shows that the money spent annually on cell phone services have increased by a whopping 600 dollars from 200 dollars in the year 2001 to an 800 dollars in 2010. On the contrary, the use of residential phone services drastically dropped from 700 dollars to 400 dollars in 2010. Earlier, people used to talk less on the telephone due to the high charges and poor voice quality. But now the world has become smaller due to the efficient calling quality provided by many competitors in the market at highly cheap rates.
