The graph below shows UK air pollutants in million of tonnes, from three different sources, between 1900 and 2005. pO50
The line graph indicates the amount of emissions released into the air that contributed to air pollution coming from three different sources from 1900 to 2005. Units are measured in million tonnes. Overall, it can be clearly seen that the total amount of pollutants steadily decreased between these years. While the figures for industry and household declined, the figures for transport saw an upward trend over the mentioned period. From 1900 to 1999, the quantities of air pollutants from household remained unchanged at approximately 1 prior to experiencing a dramatic drop to a negligible amount in 2005. Moreover, in the same period, the figures for industry gradually decreased from 6 to 4. By 2005, the amount of air contaminants from industry activity sank at 2 precisely which was three times lower than the 1900 level. Despite the figures for household and transport being equal at the beginning of the period, the number of pollutants discharged into the air from vehicles jumped to roughly 1, 7 in 1993. After a slight reduction to the 1900 level, a threefold increase of air pollutants from transportation was observed at the end of the period. The given period witnessed a sharp decline in a total of 2 million tonnes (from 8 to 6) of air contaminants were emitted from the three mentioned sources.
