The graph below shows the quantities of goods transported in the UK between 1974 and 2002 by four different modes of transport. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant

The line graph illustrates the number of goods transported through four different modes of transport (road, water, rail and pipeline) in the UK from 1974 to 2002. overall, there is a sharp increment in the goods transported through pipeline whereas others show some fluctuations over the period still the quantities of goods transported through pipeline is lowest and through roads is the highest. first of all, goods transported through roads were about 65 million tones in the year 1974 which shows some fluctuations to about 20 years and again a sharp increment to about 95 million tones which finally reaches around 99 million tonnes at the end of the period. On the other hand goods transported through water way at the beginning was 40 million tonnes which gains sharp increment in the year 1982 and reaches less than 60. In the mid time it remains stable and drop to about 65 million tonnes in the year 1998. at the end of the period it reaches more than 60 million tonnes. Secondly, in 1974 the number of goods transported was just below 40 million tons by rail ways which reached 40 in the year 1978 and again fell down to about 37 after four years after which it remained stable until 1990. In the year 1994 it decreased to about 30 million tonnes and in the final year shows slight increment just about 40. However, the goods transported through pipelines started at about 10 million tonnes and shows sharp increment along the period and reaches above 20 in the final year
