The bar graph illustrates the literacy rates (in percentage) of Country X and Country Y over a span of forty years from 1980 to 2010 with every decade as an interval. In the year 1980, both Countries recorded the literacy rates with Country X having an edge over the Country Y with a difference of 10% at 30% literacy rate for Country X and 20% literacy rate for Country Y respectively. It gradually increased in the year 1990, with the literacy rate of 40% for Country X and a slight increase for the Country Y at 28%. By the year 2000, it observed a sharp growth for the Country X by 30 % compared to the previous decade at 70% literacy rate. On the other hand, Country Y literacy rate increased steadily by a 12% jump compared to the previous decade at 40% literacy rate.
