The line chart provided illustrates the consumption of margarine, butter, low fat and reduced spreads from the year 1981 to 2007 It is observed that the consumption of butter and margarine has been experiencing a sharp declining trend. On the other hand, low fat and reduced spreads consumption had a good upward trend but began to decline in the recent years. The consumption of butter increased from 140 grams to 160 grams during the period 1981 to 1986. But afterwards it began to decline sharply and in 2007 it was found that the annual consumption rate of butter was around 40 grams. Besides, the consumption of margarine experienced a downward trend in 1986 which amounted 80 grams. But, in 1991 the consumption of butter increased to 100 grams and has remained stable up to 1996. In 2007, it was found that it’s consumption decreased to 40 grams. The consumption of low fat and reduced spreads started in 1996. In 2001, around 80 grams of low fat and reduced spreads was consumed which was more than the consumption of margarine in that year.
