The graph below shows the average number of UK commuters travelling each day by car, bus or train between 1970 and 2030. Write a report for a university, lecturer describing the information shown below. 2bKLo
The graph reflects that in the beginning of 1970's the train was the least used means of commuting while car was the highest. The bus managed to find its place between these two as it was the second most used means of transportation. Over the years we can see that car has been the most famous means of commuting because its use has been steadily increasing. However, between 1980 and 2000 the use of car has seen a steep growth and since 2000 it has been steady up untill 2020 where it is predicted to have another steep increase up untill 2030. The popularity of bus, however, is seen to be decreasing over the years and train is increasing its reach to the commuters. Shortly after 2010 we see that use of trains has overtaken the use of buses and since then trains have been the second most popular means of commuting. Also, it has been predicted that the use of car will further diminish and use of trains for commuting will further increase. By 2030, the number of cars will be around 9 million while the number of buses will go just below 3 milion while the number of trains will be in the neighbourhood of 6 million.
