Overall, it can be observed that while the demand for CDs has experienced exponential decay, the demand for streams has experienced exponential growth. On the other hand, the demand for downloads has gone through constant fluctuations.
In 2011, the streams were the most unpopular method of music sales, having a mere share of 5% in the total sales, whereas, CDs had the largest share of 60% in the total music sales. Around 35% of the total transactions took place via downloads.
