This line graph represents the percentages of different materials that were recycled in a particular country for eighteen year period. In general, there was a considerable proportion of paper and cardboard, followed by the usage of glass containers. Plastics, which can seriously damage our planet, had the least proportion of recycling rate. First of all, the proportion of plastics usage increased slightly from about 1% in 1988 to nearly 10% in 2009. The percentage of recycling aluminum cans leveled out to about 45% in 2009. Between 1980 and 1988, there had a moderate decrease in the proportion of glass containers that were recycled, then increased gradually until 2009. However, the rate of recycling paper dipped from 80% in 1992 to 70% in 2009, it remains a trendy usage of among these materials. Overall, the tactics of recycling materials are widely spread in the 2000s than 1980s.
