The diagram illustrates the key stages in the life cycle of a butterfly.
Look at the process, it is obviously apparent that a butterfly undergoes several significant metamorphosises that takes a long time. It involves 5 main stages beginning with eggs and ending with mature butterfly which can laid a massive number of eggs.
In the first stage, a butterfly begins life as an small egg which is laid on a leaf. Then, the baby caterpillar hatches and eats the shell which is followed by search of milkweed leaves stage. As young caterpillar quickly grows, it sheds their skin several times in order to prepare to lose its skin and begin pupation.
It takes about one and a half weeks to be motionless in a tight cocoon, then it experiences a transformation and a new butterfly having quite small wings emerges. Gradually, they expand to their full size. Finally, it is ready to fly. The adult will spend its life to nectar from flowers and reproduce a couple of eggs, the life cycle repeats itself.
The line graph compares four sectors in term of amount of acid rain emissions that they produced in the UK from 1990 to 2007.
