According to the process diagram, water from river is held by dam using a high-level reservoir which flows to the low-level reservoir. This process occurs both in day and night to produce electric currents.
During the day-time, water is collected in the high level reservoir, through the dam structure and allowed to flow via a narrow stream at an inclined downward angle towards the power station. The station consists of a reversible turbine which is connected to a generator that produces current during the day. The power station, utilizes the kinetic energy produced by the flow of the water and electricity is generated which is transmitted from power lines to the National grid.
After the water passes through the turbines, it is released to a low-level reservoir. In the night-time water flows back from this end, towards the other end using the reversible turbine pumps and the cycle continues.
