The chart illustrates the percentage of jobless people in Australia (urban and rural areas) for each of the four quarters in the year 2012.
Overall, significant differences in the percentage values can be observed from the starting of the year with some fluctuation throughout the whole period.
In regards to the rural areas, there was a steady decline in the number of unemployment rate recorded which is from 6. 5% in the first quarter until 4. 5% in the middle of the second quarter. It then took a dramatic rise till the third quarter (5. 5%) before experiencing a small fluctuation for the rest of the year and stopped at 5%.
On the other hand, the rate in the city has drastic rose around 2% in the first two quarters of the year. However, the trend seems to drop back to where it started in the third quarter. Near to the year-end, another similar increase has been noted, before same fluctuation took place. After that, the rate began to spike until the end of the year before it halted just below 5%.
