The bar chart depicts the gross domestic product generated by France’s IT and Service Industry from 2000 to 2008. It is expressed as a percentage. Overall, it can be seen that both climbed as a percentage of GDP over time, but IT grew at a faster rate. As per the data provided by the chart, at the beginning of the period, in 2000, The IT industry contributed 6% of the France's GDP, whilst the service industry could only contribute slightly over 3%. Within the following 4 years (until 2004), the world witnessed an increase in both the industries’ contribution, and still, IT industry was higher overall. Over these years, the Service industry grew up to almost 8%, which was nearly equal to the IT at that time. At the same time, the IT industry endured a stagnation, it slightly dropped from 2002 to 2004. However, in the second half of the period, the situation changed, with a significant increase in the IT sector's contribution to national GDP. The percentage of the IT industry increased sharply to 12% in 2006 and then reached its peak at 15% in 2008, while the Service industry failed to make a significant impact when it remained nearly the same, increasing to 8% in 2008. In conclusion, the share of the IT industry in the France’s GDP was always at the higher rate compare to the Service industry’s share and at the end of the period, the percentage of GDP from IT was nearly twice that of the Service industry.
