In the first 5 years, there was a slight increase from 20 to nearly 30 billion barrels per year in the amount of oil. The next 10 years between 1955 and 1965 followed the same pattern, rose by nearly 30 million barrels, three times as high as the former. However, the following years witnessed the volatility of the amount of oil pumped out. The statistics fell by about 23 billion barrels in 1970. After a recovery, the number dropped again to 15 billion barrels in 1985. The figure is dropped to only 4 billion barrels in 2020.
