The bar graph shown above indicates the population of the four countries from the year 1950 to 2000 while also making the projections for the year 2050. It is clear from the graph that China has the highest percentage of world population in 1950 and 2000, but estimates show that India will take the lead by 2050. Seeing the graph of Japan, it can be said that it has lowest percentage of population i. e 5% in the year 1950 and will keep decreasing, till the predicted projections it would become nearly 3% which the lowest percentage among the 4 countries. Whereas comparing India it can be seen that it has the steady increase in the percentage of population going from 15% to 19% till the year 2000, in the year 2050 it will reach upto 21% which would be the highest percentage of population among the countries that are compared. In 1950, China accounted for a little over a quarter of the world’s population, although it decresed to a little under a quarter, it was still the highest in 2000, compared to three countries. It is estimated that the population of China will continue to drop and would reach approximately 19% by 2050. When it comes to the population of USA, it showed the decrease from 1950 to 2000 but the percentages remain steady for the year 2000 to 2050.
