The bar graph illustrates the percentage of population which consumed 5 portions of fruits and vegetables every day in the UK from 2001 to 2008. The population has been divided into 3 categories: men, women and children.
Overall, we can observe that the largest percentage of population feeding on multiple portions of fruits and vegetable is composed of women, which is followed by men and children. Moreover, a positive trend in consumption can be noticed from 2001 to 2006 after which, a fall in percentage occurred. The percentage of women who ate fruits and vegetable constantly increased from more than 20% in 2001 to more than 30% in 2005. After reaching the peak in 2006, it started decreasing and fell to 30% in 2008.
On the other hand, the increase in the percentage of men and children population wasn't prominent till 2003. From then on, the percentage of men who consumed fruits and vegetables rose from more than 15% in 2003 to almost 30% in 2007. Similarly the percentage of children who were consistent consumers of fruits and vegetables experienced a sharp rise from 12% in 2003 to 25% in 2007. However, similar to the women population, both men and children population went through a reduction in percentage of consumers in 2008.
By the end of 2008, 30% of the women population, more than 25% of the men population and more than 20% of the youth population consumed 5 portions of fruits and vegetables.
