The given bar chart illustrates the data about persentage of owned and rented accommodation in England and Wales from 1918 to 2011. Overall, during the whole time period owned accomodation rate has seen upward trend, while the rate of rented accommodation experienced downward trend. In more detail, in 1918 renting stood at more than 75% of households, whereas owning rate was more than three times smaller. Until 1961 percentage of rentals decreased slowly, despite the period of stabilization between 1939 and 1953. By 1971 ownership has rosen gradually and become the same as the ratio of rentals with 50%. Then the number of owned accommodation grew to almost 70% of total number in 1991 and remained the same until 2001. By the end of the given time period this percentage gradually decreased and stood at 65%. The number of rentals declined considerably after 1971 and in 1981 had only two fifth of the total number. After the period of plateau between 1991 and 2001 the percentage of rentals reached 35% in 2011.
